London installs first green, solo outdoor toilets

Following the lead of Paris, who last week shocked tourists on the Seine with the sight of men openly relieving themselves into stylish green ‘Uritrottoir’ boxes, London Mayor Sadiq Khan has launched the capital’s first open air, solo toilets.

The ‘Pong-Go 2000′ has been installed at popular sites including Trafalgar Square, The Eye and outside the gates of Buckingham Palace. The facility is completely self-contained, turning contributions into a harmless compost that will be sold at Farmers’ Markets.

“What I’m doing today is sending a message to the world,” said Mr Khan, “I’m saying loud and clear that we’re a multi-cultural, multi-lingual global city, and we really want your business.’
